Flashcards

• Every week I will send home flashcards, these words are new words from out reading.  I expect your child to practice them nightly and bring them to school daily.  I will quiz your child on the flashcards.  Please help your child with these!

Read with Me Books

Each week I will check out a leveled "Read with Me" book.  Please return the books on Wednesday and I will check another one out to your child for the week.  It is important to return book weekly so that other students may read the books.

Each week we are reading a different story in our books.  During the week, we focus on reading skills through our workbook pages and classroom activities.  We work on decoding words, vowel patterns, grammar, and sentence structure.

Every week I will copy the story and send it home for your child to read to you.  The first night, I expect the some of the words to be challenging but by the end of the week, they should be able to read the story fluent.  We practice daily at school and they should practice daily at home as well.
